Skating Mechanic Assessment and Analysis

Sound skating mechanics is the most important aspect of any hockey player's game. Several factors are crucial in developing that perfect skating stride. Coach Simon will perform an on-ice assessment as well as video analysis of the players stride. Key areas for review include: 1) leg extension 2) hip and knee flexion 3) external rotation of the hip 4) stride recoil speed 5) arm movement 6) weight distribution and 7) posture. These areas will be evaluated during a stationary pose, forward movement, and crossovers. Coach Simon will also assess a player's start and stop speed to provide feedback about their acceleration. Following the on-ice session, the player and Coach will review on-ice videos to discuss areas that require improvement.
